Bonus furniture and household appliances 2023

What it is


It is a 50% Irpef deduction for the purchase of furniture and large household appliances to furnish a property undergoing renovation. The deductionis on amaximum expenditure of €8,000 for the year 2023 and €5,000 for 2024, including any transport and assembly costs, and must be divided into ten equal annual instalments. Payment must be made by bank or postal transfer or debit or credit card. If payment is made by bank or postal transfer, it is not necessary to use the one (subject to withholding) specially prepared by banks and Poste S.p.a. for building renovation expenses. On the other hand, payment by bank cheques, cash or other means of payment is not allowed.

Who is eligible


Anyone who buys new furniture and household appliances by 31 December 2024 (no lower than class A for ovens, class E for washing machines, washer-dryers and dishwashers, class F for fridges and freezers) and has carried out building renovation work since 1 January of the year preceding the year of purchase of the goods is eligible for the deduction.

What benefits


Regardless of the amount of the expenses incurred for the renovation work, it is possible to benefit from a 50% deduction calculated on a maximum amount of €8,000 for the year 2023 and €5,000 for the years 2024, referring, in total, to the expenses incurred for the purchase of furniture and large household appliances. The maximum expenditure limit concerns the individual property unit, including appurtenances, or the common part of the building undergoing renovation. Therefore, a taxpayer carrying out renovation work on more than one property unit will be entitled to the benefit several times.

How to Make Payments


To obtain the deduction on furniture purchases, payments must be made by bank transfer or debit or credit card. Payments by bank cheques, cash or other means of payment are not permitted. If payment is made by bank transfer, it is not necessary to use the bank transfer (subject to withholding) specially prepared by banks and Poste S.p.a. for building renovation expenses.(Source: Revenue Agency)

▪ invoices for the purchase of goods, stating the nature, quality and quantity of the goods and services purchased, which is always issued following a payment for any purchase within our site.
